Since a different platform I'd been using had enormous difficulty simply letting me put in a link, I put up a blog post over at Daily Kos, "Republicans vs Fiscal Responsibility." Please feel free to link to it, respond to it here or there, even link to it on FB.

good article - I hope our government representatives get smarter, and soon - happy Hanukkah - my wish for a gift this holiday would be that Democrats and Republicans learn to play nice with each other in 2013, but it would take a miracle, wouldn't it... well, miracles have happened in the past...

The Democrats have tried playing nice for decades now (admittedly they were less nice in the 80s), with ever-increasing Republican intransigence. I would like the two parties to play nicely together, but right now the GOP notion of "compromise" seems to be "This is our position and you should adopt as much of it as possible. That is your position and we will thoroughly ignore it except when we demonize it."

Happy Hanukkah, and may the lights shine ever in your favor.

Nice column. Did you see DGlenn's quote a while back from the Washington Post, some analysis showing successful businessclones make bad presidents, even for the rich?

I had not seen that post, but I have already seen some analyses of that particular phenomenon. Hell, all you really have to do is look at the last several terms of Republican presidencies versus Democratic presidencies.

The last few have been extreme cases, but yes.
