I adore J. Of my cousins J, J and J--all brothers-- he is the oldest. He is the one who introduced me to Dungeons and Dragon and to Tom Lehrer. When he came to visit a couple of weekends ago, he recommended a newer musical satirist to me, a fellow named Tim Minchin.

Last night he sent me a link to a video of Mr. Minchin performing a song, called Prejudice. The first couple of minutes are preamble with piano accompaniment. All I can say is he takes an unusual tack on it. Watch or listen to it somewhere without people offended by strong language, as he will drop the occasional f-bomb.

I am mathematically certain there are multiple people on my list who knew about this man before I did. Those people are free to say so :P

I can't say whether there are multiple people, but there's certainly at least one... You might also enjoy Mitch Benn, of whom I'm also quite a fan (and who is more than a little bit fannish).

I knew about him. He does a beautiful Christmas song that makes me cry, called "White wine In The Sun."

I've seen him live twice so far.

Something to also be aware. He's been in a recent production of Jesus Christ Superstar that will be out on DVD early next year. There are pieces of it on Youtube. He plays Judas.

My fav? Either 'If I didn't have you' (which you can find on Youtube) or one that hasn't been officially recorded yet (and so I don't know it's actual name but it's referred to "Thank you God for fixing the cataracts of Sam’s mum." (you can find the lyrics, but not any sound or video of that online yet)

Oh yes. Jared's lifelong ambition is to grow up to be Tim Minchin. I get this song several times a day. I think he's a bit sad that the red-hair gene didn't make it past me (and I only got the skin, not the hair)...
