Sonnet: Autumn
Nov. 3rd, 2012 02:55 pmThe softer breezes blowing down the street
Are gentle zephyrs tugging at the leaves.
There is no need to shield from summer's heat
And so they fall in vast chaotic sheaves.
I have no lawn or garden for to tend,
No rake nor clippers needed for the yard.
And yet the smell of autumn does portend
The frozen winter shown upon my card.
But must I dwell on what is yet to be?
The day is bright with cool autumnal sun.
I still enjoy the bounty that I see
Of rainbowed leaves and children having fun.
I sense the coming of the winter snow
With calm surrender to the seasons flow.
