Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!
Jul. 30th, 2012 04:40 pmMy response:
Let's ask our panel. Paula Poundstone?
He'll go to a pierogie festival and tell them how the ravioli he had last week was so much better.
Tom Bodette?
He'll talk on and on about his favorite floor polish before he's told that Polish is pronounced with an "oh" sound.
Mo Rocca?
Uhm, he's going to talk about how he loves to eat Polish sausages, the bigger the better.
And if he does any of that, panel, we'll cover that on another edition of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!
Thank you Carl.

Date: 2012-07-31 01:18 am (UTC)Gah!
The sad thing is, no matter how much I do not want him to be president, I actually feel bad for him making these gaffes. I do not want to identify with him, I do not like him, I do not like what he does now and what he has done previously.
Maybe I'm just worried that he's reinforcing the Ugly American idea while he's abroad.

Date: 2012-07-31 01:25 am (UTC)Lots of uncertainty
Date: 2012-07-31 01:40 am (UTC)I'm still.... I'm scared of what will happen if he becomes President. Not just in terms of policy and legislation, but because I am pretty sure that Scalia and Thomas are each currently waiting for a Republican president so they can retire and keep the court as ideological as ever. Normally a GOP president wouldn't scare me before coming into office, but considering that the US economy is currently in a depression, and that Mitt's policies would be much more like Herbert Hoover's than FDR's, and I have no idea who he'd put on the Supreme Court...
I should probably email a prof and lay out my worries. But I'm also not sure if I'd be more worried by a professor scoffing at my reasoning, which would just indicate that I am not thinking enough, or if I'm not scoffed at.
There are things where I'd rather be the crazy person than think that the world really behaves like this, despite my best analyses. I'm not the crazy person yet.

Date: 2012-07-31 02:00 pm (UTC)I still have difficulty believing that Twit met with a spymaster, one who keeps all such appointments private, and then nattered on about it. That's not just international incident, that's potentially deadly (for somebody who isn't Twit, but still).

Wonder how much Romney's trip has improved Obama's reputation abroad?
