Mar. 16th, 2012 08:39 pmEarlier today my wife and I had an email exchange about supper. I had initially asked her what she wanted, and she replied, "Ummm... chicken?" I needed to know how she wanted it, and before I knew it there was syncopation, so it got into a silly back and forth.
Wolf:
Whole and roasted? Fried in parts?
Soup with noodles? Stuffed with hearts?
Stewed and steamed? Sliced and creamed?
On a pizza? Topped with breem?
Microwaved or in the oven?
Cooked all bare or with a glove in?
Tell me, tell me how you'll eat it, how you'll see it, how you'll greet it.
Tell me, won't you, how you'll task it, on a plate or in a basket.
What's the chicken you desire?
Tell me soon before I tire.
TL:
Whole in oven would be good,
or fried with panko (not with wood).
With some noodles in a soup would make me give a wild whoop.
But one thing I must declare, chicken hearts are not served rare.
And while yon bream can be delish, I fear to eat for it's a fish.
So here and now I tell to you, let's have some soup and roast to chew.
Wolf:
Shall I serve it with potato? Or some vinaigrette tomato?
Will we finish with gelayto while the children play with play-doh?
I think we need some veggies too, to make my wifey feel less blue.
I will make some french fried carrot, ones the kids won't feed the parrot.
Or I can steam some healthy peas and sauce them lightly with some cheese.
Or fry some green beans -- in a pan -- that never once lived in a can.
I cannot, though, make up the challah, so pick some up from Walla Walla.
TL:
Rosenfeld's where challah be, a stylish schlep it is for me.
Carrots good and taters too, and beans are green and cure my blues.
__________
We did not actually have chicken for supper, but that's a story for another post.

Date: 2012-03-17 02:55 am (UTC)I want to have some pizza please
I want it topped with extra cheese
And don't forget tomato slices,
spinach leaves and onion dices.
I want a pizza crust that's thin
Like Boston, New York, Ital-yin.
Then spread the sauce out to the edge
And grate some cheese, a whole big wedge.
Now heat your oven made of bricks
With tasty logs and fragrant sticks
And stick the pizza deep inside
So none could steal it if they tried.
When cheese and crust are nice and ready,
Remove the pizza nice and steady.
Then cut it up and serve it hot.
I'll eat it all! or eat a lot.
