Disturbing

I just saw Bill Clinton on Tuesday's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
I know the interview had a cut or two, but I have never seen Mr. Clinton pause that often or that long, especially not in tandem. Either he has a lot on his mind and is having trouble articulating it -- which given his general loquaciousness is disturbing -- or he has something physical wrong that is similarly delaying his speech.

I have no proof that there is a problem; all caveats about my degrees and qualifications apply. Still, this is how it looked to me, and I am disturbed.

he's 65, so not terribly early for mild cognitive slowdown. particularly given the stress of his life, that wouldn't surprise me (nor, given his inherent smarts, do i think it's a sign he's gone stupid).

He could have just been relaxed, thoughtful, or not on one of his good days. They even happen to Clinton.

Hmmm.... I saw the same show (the tv cut version not the online complete version) and didn't notice any problem. Wonder if this is because I live in close proximity and interact with a majority of older adults and those who either take a while to speak or to organize thoughts. He is leading a very differently paced life now too. I found him really engaging and interesting. I'm not saying you're wrong... just that I don't know if it's just a context thing.

Well, it might be that he's trying to be thoughtful. He's not a politician any more, he may be trying to do the elder statesman shtick.
