Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is decent. There is some retcon work, like making Sarah Connor 18 as of the time she gave birth to her son as opposed to in her 20s, and occasional minor flubs in things, such as listing her at various times as 5'4", 5'5" and 5'6" - two of those three in the same database.
The story is good but there are some pretty big plot-holes, notably involving time travel which now seems to be a lot more common. It threatens to go to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure levels of time travel stupidity. The special effects are excellent from the subtle to the exotic, with computer gen doing some nice work on the Terminator skeletons. This show is very bloody and isn't recommended for young'uns. It does feel like they wanted to make Terminator in a Joss Whedon style without actually going to the lengths of, say, hiring Mr. Whedon.

Adult Swim on Cartoon Network has been cutting back on anime because it doesn't do well, supposedly. This begs the question of why SciFi has upped anime from being on only one night to two. If you like anime, go to SciFi at 11PM Eastern on Monday and Tuesday.

Cranky Geeks is a podcast that I will simply call Elbows on Video and leave it at that. Intelligent but a bit grating. I hope they keep it up but I don't think I'll be watching it much.

My current televised news sources are The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Bill Moyers Journal, and the locally produced Beat the Press weekly segment of Greater Boston. Add to this regular radio doses of NPR News and Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! and reading the online news at Salon and I'm pretty well-rounded news-wise. At least so I'm told.

Oh, and TV-Land has been showing complete episodes of the original Star Trek, including lots of episodes I never had a chance to see in reruns back in the 80s. Set your TiVos.

I watched Sarah Connor, and even with my squeeing fannishness of Summer Glau, I just couldn't keep it up. It's not so much that there are plot holes, it's that occasionally there is some plot in between the holes, and I just did not have the patience with it.

I watched 6 episodes in a row. I must be a masochist; but I admit I had it on partly for background. Summer really looks different in this series, that's for sure.

I'm enjoying the Sarah Connor episodes, too, but I'm afraid unless they get bold about advancing canonical plot that they're going to get bogged down in Terminator Arrival of the Week. And I've long wondered about the whole Terminator series just how the whole time travel thing works: I mean, if they're trying to save John for the future, but everyone can keep coming back to mess with that, what timeline are we supposed to believe? How come they can't go back to before Sarah Connor was even born and have her terminated? And keep trying again and again? Why do they have to keep working in this timeline? Then I have to remind myself it's ultimately entertainment and I should put brain cells to more productive work.

Surely you also listen to NPR's This American Life, right? And you do know you can get podcast versions of TAL and Wait Wait? That's how I always listen to them.

And thanks for the tip on original ST. I'm going to fix the TiVo now.

(Sorry to have missed you at hot foods this year!)

If I had a TiVo
I'd TiVo in the morning
I'd TiVo in the evening...

etc. ;-)
Interesting selections of shows, though. :-)
