Politics: Lies and the lying liar

teddywolfBush claimed he'd helped bring about the Texas Patient's Bill of Rights. In fact, he attempted to veto it and only skipped doing so when there was a veto-proof margin.
Bush claimed to stand for justice for the innocent. A lot of the people he left on Death Row probably were - too bad he let 'em die.
Bush claimed he was in favor of states rights regarding medical marijuana...
... funny how he changed his mind in office.
Bush claimed that as Governor of Texas he reduced the high school dropout rate to 1.5%; it was really more like 40%.
First, the Administration claimed Iraq was disarmed...
Then Bush claimed we'd only go to war in Iraq as a last resort.
The imspectors needed more time, duly stated in January 2003...
... but Bush was building up for an attack while saying that he was waiting for inspections to finish...
... which he didn't let happen...
... because he claimed Iraq was too dangerous for us. Which it wasn't. Turns out the initial claim was correct. Bear in mind that Bush supposedly had much better intel infor on Iraq than about anybody else, as the President of the USA.
Bush claimed he would only use wiretaps in accordance with the law. (paragrapgh 29, including 1 line paragraphs - for you folks who'd rather not read the whole speech)
He had already been using wiretaps without court orders for two years."
These wiretap warrants could be retroactive for up to 72 hours. Yet Bush seems to feel 72 hours after the fact is not enough time.
George W Bush has deliberately lied to the citizens of the United States, and the world, on a consistent basis. The previous president, when caught lying, had the grace to apologize. Bush has not apologized once, and he's lied more often. That is not a way to restore honor and dignity to the White House. Honor and dignity go hand-in-hand with grace and a dash of humility.
Look: it doesn't matter if you're a Democrat, Republican, Independant, Green, Libertarian, Socialist, Communist... he lied to you. He has lied to you consistently about very important things, including your very privacy and reasonable right to expect such. If you say you don't care about your privacy, please let George Bush know your address so his people can spy on you and learn every last little thing about you.

If you want a lawbreaking, oathbreaking liar who is willing to eavesdrop on you without cause or due process to be president, you've got your man. But pleaae, don't pretend he's restored honor and dignity to the White House. Honor means, among other things, when you give your word you keep your promises. Dignity means, among other things, being worthy of high esteem. Despite lots of spin to the contrary, in the eyes of much of the US and much of the world, the current White House has neither.
