Sonnet: Cherry Blossoms
May. 16th, 2012 09:16 amThe cherry blossoms blooming in the spring
So redolent of heady summer days
All flutter in the breeze as if to sing
Of pleasantries deserving of your praise
The sun, they sing, so sticky and so hot
Brings sweetness like the orange from the tree
While gentle shade and breezes oft forgot
Will keep you cool, aye, and your company.
But cherry blossoms linger all too brief
And seem subdued in even lightest rain.
While more enticing than the humble leaf
They never last til autumn's soft refrain.
While still the blossoms' beauty ever grows
As lief I'd keep their pollen from my nose.
So redolent of heady summer days
All flutter in the breeze as if to sing
Of pleasantries deserving of your praise
The sun, they sing, so sticky and so hot
Brings sweetness like the orange from the tree
While gentle shade and breezes oft forgot
Will keep you cool, aye, and your company.
But cherry blossoms linger all too brief
And seem subdued in even lightest rain.
While more enticing than the humble leaf
They never last til autumn's soft refrain.
While still the blossoms' beauty ever grows
As lief I'd keep their pollen from my nose.
