Sonnet: An Excellent Party
May. 6th, 2012 01:52 amAn invitation for a night of fun --
All social with some people I enjoy --
Can fill a night with happiness well-spun,
Enough to make me smile like a boy.
Loquaciously we talk and drink and dance
Salaciously with alcohol and mirth.
Propriety has very little chance,
Society is proven by its worth.
I would as lief stay til the sun's return,
Yet Duty does entreat me to my home.
This company reluctantly I spurn
And hope to meet again when next I roam.
A life is best when share-d with your friends
And helps a wounded heart to make amends.
All social with some people I enjoy --
Can fill a night with happiness well-spun,
Enough to make me smile like a boy.
Loquaciously we talk and drink and dance
Salaciously with alcohol and mirth.
Propriety has very little chance,

Yet Duty does entreat me to my home.
This company reluctantly I spurn
And hope to meet again when next I roam.
A life is best when share-d with your friends
And helps a wounded heart to make amends.
