Richard Holbrooke died earlier today. He was a model public servant. The world is richer for having had him and poorer for his passing. Condolences to his family and friends.

If anybody ever talks about public service disparagingly, talk about Holbrooke and blunt them. Genuine service to the public is a worthy cause, and he served ably and well.
