Heard in the kitchen
Jan. 8th, 2006 02:42 pmI was in the midst of making potato corn cheddar chowder this morning when I declared, "You know, I think I want to host my own cooking show It will be all about soups."
My wife, bemused, asked, "Will you cover stewps?"
"No, just soup." I replied. "But I will have a catch phrase every time I do something cool."
"What, would you howl?" she inquired, working on her potato bread.
"No, I'll say 'Voom!' Sort of like Emeril's 'Bam!'" I replied, stirring flour into melted butter in a small frying pan.
She paused for a moment.
I asked her, "So, want to know the title?"
"Tell me."
"A Voom! With A Roux."
She paused again, with a smile. "That was all just a setup so you could tell that pun, wasn't it?"
I adore how smart she is.
