In my top five anyways.

Anybody who's ever eaten with me at a restaurant or in my home more than twice knows that I can be a very picky eater. I am very clear about my likes and dislikes, however, and am polite about it, which is actually easier for a restaurant - this way they know what will work right and means I will bring them my business again.

I called the nearby sausage-and-other-meats place a bit before my lunch break so I could have a full lunch. I was very hungry and ready to wolf down what I ordered. I asked for a hamburger plate, which comes with fries - dry roll, ketchup, mustard and pickles for the burger. This place makes very good burgers and their prices are very good. Good economy lunch.

I got there. I picked up my clamshell with my meal. I paid, I drove back to work - and found out that somebody had put cheese on my hamburger. Anybody who's ever even chatted food with me knows Vulfie Don Eat Dat. Feh.

I picked up the clamshell, put it in the bag, drove back to the place (it's down the street, so it's doable) and asked for my money back. I explained that I don't eat cheeseburgers, can't eat 'em, and that my lunch break was almost over. The lady behind the counter asked if I was interested in any of the other ready foods they had and I told her I no - I didn't want the meatloaf and the other things all combined meat and milk, not that I mentioned the whole process aloud. Oddly enough this very simple problem with no real solution had tears prickling at my eyes just a little bit. Might have been the hunger adding to it. At least I'm in touch with my feelings, hey?

Well, she gave me the refund and told me to come back tomorrow, she'd make sure it's on them. I don't think I kept the disappointment out of my voice.

I may or may not go back tomorrow. I do know the place means well.

I came back to work and got a bag of chips. I'm still extremely hungry. Tomorrow I might feel better about going back there. Right now I'm still annoyed. And hungry. *soft sigh*

You may need a day pass if you don't have a membership at Salon already.

John Kerry's speech at the Florida Democartic Convention, 6 December

Howard Dean's speech in Washington DC, 7 December

The contrast is interesting. I am quite interested in Kerry's speech because it shows a real difference in his approach. I've never really seen him as any sort of a firebrand before.
