Song in Haiku - Heart's Calling
Jul. 19th, 2002 11:33 pmI've had thoughts in my head of writing a song composed primarily of haiku for a while, but I'd put those thoughts to rest a while back. Tonight, this came out - part inspiration, part skull sweat. I'm afraid it sounds a bit "pop" in my head.
When the night is dark
And it sounds just like crickets
listen to yourself
When the moon shines bright
And the breeze smells of lilies
just think to yourself
When you talk to me
And your touch makes me giggle
Please touch a bit more
When the cat meows
Rubs her fur on your body
Please rub me that way
The still of the night calls ever to me
And your sleepy soul calls me closer still
Can we face the glare of the harshest sun?
I hope that we will
Hear the breeze laughing
Bringing jasmine to your nose
In shadows or sun
See the stream flowing
Washing away all the old
Is the new so good?
I miss your smile
I miss you when you're away
But sometimes that's best
Let me sing softly
Whispers of all of my hopes
My hopes are of you
The light of the day calls ever to thee
And my sleepy soul calls you closer still
Can we face the dark of starless night?
I hope that we will.
When the grass smells sweet
Freshly mowed with buttercups
I want to lay down
I see leaves shading
A private place for a few
Maybe a few more
Laughing and chasing
Bubbles blown and lovely eyes
Look deep into mine
The song sings softly
This world isn't perfect, no
Hold me anyways?
The all of creation calls ever to we
And our struggling souls call us closer still
Let's face the future but live the now
I hope that we will
I think that we will
I know that we can
When the night is dark
And it sounds just like crickets
listen to yourself
When the moon shines bright
And the breeze smells of lilies
just think to yourself
When you talk to me
And your touch makes me giggle
Please touch a bit more
When the cat meows
Rubs her fur on your body
Please rub me that way
The still of the night calls ever to me
And your sleepy soul calls me closer still
