I realize you're already home but I'll offer a couple ideas:
Bring two books. Whenever I only bring one book to work, I know I'll suddenly not want to look at it. With two books, there is a choice. Make sure the books are not about the same topic (eg. a satire and a how-to).
I'll ask Hector from my team if you can use the handheld Tetris game he leaves at his desk all the time. We all use it on my team (I have the killah high score on it now) and it uses one button to pause so you can take a call immediately.
Wanna borrow my Mac laptop? You can use it to surf or even to write that novel... so long as you transfer your work to some online drive space since it has no floppy drive.
