Song: Silence
Mar. 11th, 2003 08:07 pmThis was borne of a few words running through my mind as a reaction to something I read in
I hear my voice before I speak, I speak before I hear
I hear what I say as it cuts through the day and whispers in your ear
The sound is a voice, a voice of change, a change for good or ill
What I say with my voice is a call for a choice, can I do that standing still?
Chorus:
Silence is a pond, a clear flat pond, unchanged for all to see
Do you see what there is, do you see what you want, do you know the pond is me?
Ripples on the top distort the view, the view is hard to miss
Are they good? Who can tell? Like the sound of a bell or the feel of your soft kiss
I see my name, my name in lights, the lights are in my head
My head is asleep dreaming dreams where I weep for the joy of it instead
The dream is a song, a song of soul, my soul is bared to view
Can you see what you hear, be it hope be it fear, do you dare to hope its true?
Chorus
I feel your hand, your hand in mine, my hope is in my hand
My hand holds you tight as we slip through the night, do you truly understand?
The truth you feel I feel it too, it echoes in our touch
Only words can define am I yours? are you mine? Do we dare to hope so much?
Chorus
I see the scene before I act, I act as I can know
My actions are sure, my motives are pure as a hill of new fresh snow
You want my voice, my voice and deeds, my deeds of best intent
My intentions are clear but you know I'm no seer; is it all as you'd have meant?
Chorus
Silence is a pond, a clear flat pond, unchanging through the years
Do you see what there is, do you see what you want, all your life and hopes and fears?
Silence never lasts for all too long, do you hear yourself inside?
Are you good? Can you tell? Is it heaven or hell or just the wind outside?
