Today's the day everybody's been waiting for. Finally, the wait is over.
Trader Joe's has fresh turkeys back in stock!

What, there's something else important today? :P

I plan to vote, hold signs, and get me a turkey! Redheads-willing, of course.

Do you find their turkeys tastier than others? For thelast two years, we've gotten ours from McKinnon's in Davis Square. (I hope I spelled that right.) For the few years before that, we used a local place in orchester. [livejournal.com profile] thorbol commented he might like a kosher turkey this year because he believes he wouldn't have to brine it. (We got that brining idea from you way back when.)

I like TJs turkeys because they all come pre-brined and they are generally very well-priced for a fresh pe-brined bird. Also, they are generally tasty. They have glatt-kosher birds for an extra 50 cents per pound. Both types are less expensive than Whole Wallet's.

I have no problems with people buying fresh turkeys wherever, and I fully expect that some fresh turkeys elsewhere would be a little better if they are similarly brined. However, if you want to skip doing a brine yourself, buying a Kosher or otherwise-brined bird is a good way to go. I *can* brine a bird overnight, and my brine is better than a store-brine, but I prefer buying pre-brined for labor-savings.

Do they have kosher turkeys?

They do. $2.49/lb. I'm planning on getting me some turkey to cook for my in-laws this Friday.

Mmmm... it'll have that new store smell.

Went and got a turkey this morning - thanks so much for the tip! Hadn't been sure where we'd find something reasonable for Thanksgiving.

You're welcome :-) I'd actually suggest getting something closer to actual turkey day instead of buying now and freezing, but de gustibus. You can still generally find the Kosher ones as late as a day or three before Thanksgiving--at least, anywhere but Brookline :P

I'm sure you're right, but given how tight my schedule is, the peace of mind of knowing we have a turkey is more important to me than it being a bit more flavorful.
