In the past six hours I have received no fewer than ten emails from various Democratic organizations and candidates regarding Mitt Romney's selection of his VP candidate.
I dislike left-wing fear-mongering as much as I dislike right-wing fear-mongering. I do care how truthful any statements are, fear-mongering or no, but I am so tired of the fear-mongering.

Agreed. Thus I'm going to work on podcasting this weekend between pager calls.

Romney (R-Money) picked Tea Party woman-hater. He's proving he really doesn't want to be president and can't wait to get back to offshore banking (which I mistyped as offhorse). What do you want from me, Donkey? Go advertise in Colorado.

It's a constant battle for me to keep spam and such off my email lists. The fear mongering problem is indeed quite bad and I find it's useless to try to tell people about it because then they try to argue with me and tell me that it IS really that bad, no REALLY. For all that it seems I rant a lot, I do a lot more lip-biting than ranting.

I follow some political groups on Facebook, but I unsubbed from all political emails I could find leading up to this (over a period of a few months, they are sneaky.) So everything I am seeing about Paul Ryan, theoretically I signed myself up for. I feel more positively informed in this election because I'm more in control of my info streams.

Also, I actually haven't seen much FEAR-mongering on this. I've seen a lot of Dems celebrating because Ryan is un-electable. That's a lot louder than any fear-mongering. The only thing I can think comes close to the fear-mongering are various posts spreading the facts on him. But again: I signed up for those, and I'd rather have the facts than not.

Agreed! I had to stop watching a number of news shows a few years ago because, while I agreed with their outlooks, I couldn't deal with their attempt to try to scare me as much as the other side. Sadly they had to go as part of the destressing of my life. *sigh*

I heard a snippet of what might have been a Romney ad in a pizza parlor last week, but that's the first for me this season. And nobody sends me political email because though I donate, only my soon-to-be-bankrupt USPS address is required.

Of course, this leaves me at quite a distance from a lot of pop culture, but I adjusted to that three decades ago.

I don't like fear-mongering either, but the goings-on in the Republican Party suggest that they're truly going off the deep end this time.

Weirdly, if President Romney had a solidly Democratic Congress, I think he'd do a reasonable job. But he's a manager, largely devoted to implementing the policies and goals that he's been given, and with a Republican Congress, we'd go off the rails rapidly.
