Sonnet for Gamers
Mar. 6th, 2012 04:42 pmI look upon my twenty-sided die
And pray to get the number of my choice
I shake the bone and carefully let fly
Onto the table where my luck gives voice
I chortle as the face that lands on top
Is a beloved twenty for success!
With delicacy I begin, then stop
As other factors now to me redress.
A sudden flare of writing on the wall,
A rock appears where nothing was before,
Surprising gouts of fire scorching all --
My twenty now is acting like a four.
I sigh and place my dice back in their urn
And calmly wait until I go next turn.
