Japan's damage from the earthquake and the tsunami and aftershocks it triggered is extensive, wiping villages off the map, but the international community has sent people and money to help.
New Zealand's earthquake caused major damage in the country, but the international community sent people and money to help.
Pakistan endured massive flooding in large swaths of the country last year, but the international community sent people and money to help.
Haiti suffered a horrific earthquake last year, but the international community sent people and money to help.

Efforts have not been perfect by any stretch. There is also the worrying problem of what looks like an increasing trend of natural disasters worldwide. However, the trend of countries sending humanitarian aid to other countries, even to traditional enemies, this gives me hope for humanity on our planet. Maybe we're truly starting to grow up, even if only a little bit.
