Song: Companion
Aug. 3rd, 2010 07:20 pm(Chorus)
Got some change in my pocket but I don’t know why
Gonna jump in my rocket flying to the sky
Cuz you’re on my docket and I think I’ll cry
If I don’t get to see you today
Fall is coming, leaves are turning, I want to jump and play
You came to see me in the morning but then you ran away
Why are you running? (beat) What happened? What did I do?
Won’t you tell me (beat) what you’re thinking (beat) I want to talk to you
Your smile is fading your influence waning (staccato) Gotta help you find your way back home
My worry increases (staccato) imagination releases When I read your story in your tome
(Chorus)
Spring is missing, wind is rustling, I want to feel the breeze
You came to see me in the evening and then you winked to tease
What is driving (beat) this desire - I just don’t understand
Overheating (beat) on fire from the slightest tracing of your hand
Your smile is blinding your fingers unbinding (staccato) as you dress to look like Mother Eve
My heartbeat jackhammers (staccato) as I stutter and stammer and I don’t know if I can believe
(Chorus)
The summer was missing the flowers and kissing and picnic lunches by the beach
I stretch out to touch you, you call out how much you really miss not having me in reach
In the winter frozen gaslights I’m settled in my chair
You came to see me at midnight (staccato) why won’t you talk why do you stare?
Your expression tells me nothing but I feel I ought to know
What this trembling in my chest is as I feel my body change to snow
Your teardrops are glistening I hold you, I’m listening as you rest so ragged in my bed
My glasses are steaming both waking and dreaming as our world implodes into my head
(Chorus)
Got some change (change in my pocket ....)
Gonna jump (jump in my rocket ....)
You’re always on my docket so don't say goodbye

I realize, on rereading this, that somebody might think it was written for Doctor Who. It was not, in fact, but I admit it fits somewhat.
Got some change in my pocket but I don’t know why
Gonna jump in my rocket flying to the sky
Cuz you’re on my docket and I think I’ll cry
If I don’t get to see you today
