A civilian's hope for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed

I do not know you.
I do not know your name.
I do not know your sex, the color of your skin, your religion, your politics, your relatives or your favorite meal.
But right now, this does not matter.

You fought for me.
You put your life on the line in my name, among many names.
You may have been scared, but you have courage to fight past most any fear.
You fought, and in your fight you have been hurt, quite badly.

I do not know you, but you are in my thoughts.
I hope you heal, as fully as possible, and in good time. Your health is important to me.
I am sorry that you were hurt in my name.
I respect your sacrifice.
I will work for a stable peace, as I do not want you to fight unless there is no other choice.
I am a United States civilian and I respect, and honor, and cherish your service.
