Foods of the week
Jan. 10th, 2010 11:29 pmWhile shopping yesterday at the Stop and Shop in Medford I found something quite unexpected: Stash Tea. The selection wasn't huge - it was only bagged tea and didn't have my favorite bagged tea - but the price was considerably better than it is on Stash's website - $2.59 for a small (15-20 bags) box of tea. For Stash this is a steal. I have not checked other local Stop and Shops but I suspect their tea shelves may be similar.
For residents of Malden and Medford, there's a pizza place that just opened up on the Medford/Malden border named Nonni's. The pizza is very good and the sauce seems to be a bit less salted than many, which my doctor would likely be happy about. They have two items of note: currently, all pizzas are half price until February 13; and they will be giving away free large cheese pizzas on January 23 between 11AM and 8PM. They are only open for supper during the week but I think my pizza-chomping friends in their delivery area should call them.
Finally, meal du jour. I spent a little spare cash on this as its been a while since I had an expansive meal for the family.
Tenderloin steak with Kosher salt and black pepper, cooked medium at the edge of medium rare
Tomatoes and roasted garlic vinaigrette
Mushrooms in a sherry wine reduction
Orange honey ginger glazed carrots
Green beans
Roasted potatoes with salt, pepper, rosemary and Balsamic vinegar
Baked potatoes
The carrots were amazingly flavorful and had a good kick from the ginger. The sherry reduction was quite strong and was very nice with the mushrooms. Really, I had some of most everything; and there's not much in the way of leftovers despite the size of the meal.
Goodnight.
