A couple of items of note, all about culture.

TiVo now has MusicChoice video downloads. This makes me a happy woof, as it allows me to listen to some very good music and watch some videos I always wanted to see, or see again. One musical bit I got out of my system was watching MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This!" without the annoying video blip it had at MTv during the 90s. Santana is currently rocking out the TV, very well I might add. "Into The Night" is quite a hot video.
Oh, and they have Weird Al :-)

On TV shows, a new favorite in the house is The Middleman. Take Men in Black, add Due South, sprinkle on a dash of Buffy and a tablespoon of The Tick, et voila! A show with many excellent touches and not at all stupid in its humor, The Middleman is a hero who gets no recognition - he's simply there to handle problems. He's 'just the middleman'. He has a new trainee he's taken under his wing, Wendy Watson, aka 'Dubby' (short for 'doubleyou') or 'DubDub'. In the main, this is her story, and it is a genuinely excellent show. I know why it's on ABC Family instead of ABC proper - ABC would blender it to pablum in a heartbeat. I missed Episode 1 (alas!) but have been delighted by the shows I have seen, and it would take rather a long time to detail the plot twists of each. I promise, if you enjoy my sense of humor even a bit you should watch this and thank me later.
The show did have a rather embarassing edit on Episode 4, though, at about the 13 minute mark on my TiVo - the Middleman is talking but his lips aren't moving. Talking without moving his lips is not supposed to be one of his powers. At least, not so far as I know.

The animated show Death Note finally showed its last episode last Saturday night, and is starting over from the beginning this upcoming Saturday. A very gifted teenage boy with a strong sense of justice finds a mysterious notebook, a book that has the power to kill anybody whose name is written in it with their face pictured at the time of the writing. Initially he thinks its some sort of joke - he tries it. The show is adult in how it deals with the ugly side of humanity. There are no enormous magical transformations, no big honking swords, no spells; the world is much like the real world. It might be triggery for some; but if you can deal with some serious headgames happening in a show, where the stakes very much are life and death, I recommend the show highly.

I'm having some trouble waiting for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report to come back from break. Just saying.

In completely different news, I have discovered how they get the fat on a piece of barbequed beef to that texture. And in completely completely different news, Yum!
