Feb. 25th, 2007 01:56 pmApparently, people who are on either my or my wife's Yahoo! contacts list have been getting spammed with messages that are quite suspect. Neither of us are sure if this is an infection on the computer, which would be disturbing as this is a Mac, or if it's somebody merely spoofing our Yahoo! IDs. I tried changing passwords with no effect, as some people saw me log in and send the suspect messages when I was already logged in invisibly. No, I didn't get a disconnect message.
So, Yahoo Messenger has been uninstalled, the anti-virus software has been updated to Wednesday's definitions, and the computer is going through a very long, slow scan. We'll see what happens. When its done I'll reinstall Yahoo, but not before. In the meantime, please ignore suspect links being messaged via Yahoo from either of us.
