TV Blogging: Shin Chan
Aug. 22nd, 2006 03:52 pmI saw that Cartoon Network had on a series they weren't promoting anywhere, called Shin Chan. Being the thorough cartoon watcher that I am, I decided to load it to the TiVo and give it a looksee.
You need to give the show about 5 minutes or so, as it's confusing at first look. The artwork looks like a cross between rough anime and Arlo and Janis from newspaper comics. What's good about this show? Script. I have no idea at all if the script is at all the same in the English as it is in the original Japanese. What I do know is this is a cartoon that's *not* for kids, despite what some people think about cartoon style. The show is frenetic, silly, has a number of mature themes and won't be for everyone.
If you like South Park, give this a looksee. If you don't like South Park, I'd say give it 5 minutes anyways as it's not as rude nor as deliberately warped. Again, Not For Kids. Mid-teens, that should be OK.
