First, just a note that new episodes of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are airing on Cartoon Network on Saturday nights. I hadn't thought there would be any more episodes - the show reached a logical endpoint. But these are new missions. And, from opening credits, they might have a new batch of Tatchkomas. Set your TiVos; this is excellent stuff.

A new series has debuted on Cartoon Network called IGPX. It is supposed to be Toonami's very first original series. I was dubious about it when I saw the first promos, because it looked to me like they were pulling every hot marketing topic from the shelves and banging them together. ("Well, what do people like aside from giant robots?" "Well, racing's good. How can we work that in?" "Don't forget girls with bouncing breasts and a lot of attention for the undecided male hero!"). The show is actually decent enough plotwise, if to me a bit contrived on the concept. My main beef is the music. There are plenty of scenes where the music simply gets in the way of a quiet moment, or even a dramatic moment. Cut out some of the very slow Japanese techno, please.
If you miss the show don't fret too much. They've had better. They will again. But it is decent popcorn.

I finally got around to seeing the fully computer-animated show Tripping the Rift on Sci-Fi, which is now in its second season. This animated show is most definitely not, I repeat not, for small children. It feels like South Park meets Firefly, only a bit less charming. Decent enough, though. If you like South Park, give it a looksee. Or if you like the thought of Carmen Electra's voice coming from a body even curvier than hers. Perky H cup breasts running around braless - what'll they think of next?

Last item to note tonight is Mythbusters on Discovery Channel. If you haven't heard of this show, let me inform you. This is a great show for most geeks, or anybody who has any real interest in science and urban legends. The co-hosts, Adam and Jamie, use their special effects knowledge (and their crew) to prove or disprove all sorts of stories. My own favorite? Escape from Alcatraz.
Let them infotain you, in the best possible sense of the word. If you're gaga for geeks, this is a must-see.
