OK. I have three items up for grabs, all of them anime. Feel free to skip if anime isn't your cup of tea. Before I get into the reviews, I should point that International Channel (IC) has changed names to AZN Television (say it aloud, you'll understand). So, for all (both) of you who wondered where it went, there you go.

First item for review is Descendants of Darkness AZN TV. The premise: there is a department which pay especial attention to the souls of humans who are very far past the date when they must die. When the call comes, they go into action to collect.
The animation here is quite good, and there's some fairly notable humor in it as well. I'm looking forward to see how this show unfolds. The show should be OK for teens, but I suspect some of the supernatural elements might make it a little scary for some young kids. Discretion, as always, belongs to the parents. Voice actor catch: unless I'm mistaken, one of the characters sports the voice-actor for the title character in Yu-Gi-Oh! So far, so good.

Next up is Princess Tutu Anime Network. The premise: there is a storyteller who is at times interacting with his story, watching it unfold. The primary character is Duck, who is sometimes a girl, sometimes a small yellow duck, and on occasion transforms into Princess Tutu.
The animation style is geared more toward kids, with some degree of kawaii (so cu-u-ute!) at times. Forget about the corny name for a moment. The main characters are young and the show is geared toward children their age and younger. That said, this is a very charming piece so far. Almost all of the music has classical European overtones, including some parts from opera and ballet. The teachers are animals, literally, such as Mr. Cat the ballet teacher. And there's a lot of ballet dance. This show should be good for all ages, although I will note that the storyteller might seem a bit creepy to very young children (4-7 or so). I give it a thumbs up.

Last item for consideration today is Gantz Anime Network. The premise: Two high school kids, childhood buddies who haven't seen each other in ages, die. They appear in a small room filled with other people who also died. They can't get out... until they're given a mission by an unknown party named Gantz.
The animation here is the best I've seen outside of anime on the big screen, and I'd say it beats a number of contenders there too. Not only are the lines crisp, the backgrounds and perspective shift around much more like watching live-action. The computer-aided parts are subtle and have more to do with background as a rule. Excellent stuff. The primary protagonist is the angrier of the two high school boys. Owing to the very intense emotional outpourings and angst from the protagonist, the blood, the gore, and the frank sexuality and nudity at some points in the show, I seriously wouldn't recommend this for young children. I suggest this is good for adults, but I wouldn't suggest buying it for a minor unless you have a very mature 14 year old.

That's it for now.
