Every year since before I was born the clocks have been messed with twice a year. Once a year they set the clock forward in the middle of the night, meaning that either people forget the next morning and run late to stuff or do it the night before and lose track of what TV show should be on. Heaven help the people who have appointments or work on Sunday because they suddenly just lost an hour of sleep. And telling them, "Well, just go to bed an hour early," is futile because you can't just suddenly say, "OK Body, I know its an hour before we normally go to sleep and we're not tired yet, but go to sleep anyways."
Hourly workers who work that overnight shift lose an hour at that time of year, because the clock skips an hour and so the hour of 2am-3am doesn't happen.
People who go by the rhythm of the seasons, by the sun in the sky and the moonrise and the shadows on the sidewalk are suddenly messed up, because the clocks have been arbitrarily turned forward an hour.

I have disliked Daylight Savings time since I was a child. It meant that I had trouble getting up for Hebrew School on Sundays when I still went to it; later it meant waking up late at high school and college, then waking up late for jobs. It always takes my body a week or so to try to get used to the difference in just the sleep schedule; my perception of time is thrown out of whack and I cannot properly assess the time for a good two months. Yeah, I should wear a watch - if watches didn't restrict my blood flow and discolor my wrist maybe I'd wear one.

And then once a year they turn the clocks back. An extra hour of sleep, I hear. I dunno, but I can't force my body to sleep - so I get up early, is this bad? Yes, because I work a late shift and I'll have to drive home an hour later, actual time, than I would have otherwise if the clocks stayed pushed forward. And pity the people who have to work overnight because they are forced to work an hour of overtime whether they like it or not. And accounting firms must have a yearly tangle from just getting things related to the change going over smoothly.

At least the sun feels right again.

I want Daylight Savings Time repealed. It was started in World War Two as a war measure. Hello, that war's been over for fifty seven years!

Enough is enough.
