Those segments (as do most treatments of librarians in pop culture) make me waver between laughter and wanting to whap someone because they're obviously not consulting with any real librarians about these bits. I love PHC, but I almost wish they weren't doing those bits.

They amuse me, because I like the concept of an adventuring librarian. Do I think it's real librarianship? No. But it's funny.
