I am currently still quivering with fear, adrenaline and anticipation.
Today I had an audition at a company that does educational voice work--everything from K-6 through corporate training videos. I arrived a little early (better early than late!) and chatted a bit with the president, Steve. He brought up politics before I did, and he's of a mind with me unless he's a very good actor. Which he might be, but I'm not into suspicion first.
Anyways, I digress.
He had me read six different kinds of scripts, from a learning to read script to a science textbook for 6th graders to corporate training to corporate pump-'em-up. At the end of the session, he told me he'd given me 9s and 10s for both accuracy and voice quality for every single segment.
This does not mean I have definite work. However, I am cautiously optimistic. If I become one of his regular stable, and one of his go-to people--both very much still Ifs, but not outside the realm of possibility--I will be an extremely happy voice actor. Two full shifts a week would mean we are no longer worried about the cost of attending an out-of-town convention, or the occasional babysitter for a night out.
Eyes, fingers and toes crossed. And boy it's hard to type!
